A Remote Sensing-Based Approach to Identifying Spatio-Temporal Changes in Coastal Morphology in Bhola District, Bangladesh

Bhola, the largest island of Bangladesh located at estuarine mouth bar Bay Bengal is very dynamic and unique in nature due to its physiographical configurations experienced severe morphological i.e. erosion- accretion changes. Of late, monitoring coastal morphology changes shoreline trend analysis has conveniently been done through integration remote sensing satellite imageries GIS techniques. The present study an endeavor detect analyze on Bhola Island. Multi-temporal images are main data sources attain objectives RS GIS. concludes from recent 42 years (1974- 2016) that- Island losing phase since 1974. erosion processes still active along eastern northeastern parts direct influence Meghna Estuary land by steep bank slope, high tidal water pressure, loose materials. Erosion burning issue this a large number people landless every year. On another side, being operated part surrounding increasingly southern backwash sediment deposition channel estuary with favor gentle topographic slope bank.
